About Osaka

Located in Kansai region in Southern Japan, Osaka is a charming, relaxed city best known for its food, fun and nightlife. It is only a short shinkansen ride from Tokyo, but has a very different personality to Japan's capital city. Along with plenty of shopping and modern attractions, Osaka also has a historical side.

Most loved Japanese Food

Kushikatsu (串カツ)

A Japanese dish of deep-fried skewered meat and vegetables. In Japanese, kushi (串) refers to the skewers used while katsu means a deep-fried cutlet of meat.

Sushi (すし)

A Japanese dish of prepared vinegared rice (鮨飯, sushi-meshi), usually with some sugar and salt, accompanied by a variety of ingredients (ねた, neta).

Chirashizushi (ちらし寿司, scattered sushi)

Rice served in a bowl and topped with a variety of raw fish and vegetable garnishes.

Inarizushi (稲荷寿司)

A pouch of fried tofu typically filled with sushi rice alone.

Makizushi (巻き寿司, rolled sushi)

Makizushi is generally wrapped in seaweed with cucumbers, lotus root, fish roes, tuna etc.

Ramen (ラーメン)

It consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a broth; common flavors are soy sauce and miso, with typical toppings including sliced pork, dried seaweed, bamboo shoots, and scallions.

Ramen may be thick, thin, or even ribbon-like, as well as straight or wrinkled.

Tonkotsu (豚骨, pork bone) and Torigara (鶏がら, chicken bone). The soup is broth with a typically translucent white colored appearance.
